The Corn Dog

About Us

We love large orders of sweet corn! Do you have an event coming up? Family reunions, Church picnics, weekends at the lake, really anything goes with sweet corn.

The Corn Dog, Sweet Corn was originally established in 2001 as a way to get rid of extra sweet corn production from our small sweet corn patch.  The first day we set up a stand in the bed of a small pick –up and sold out our production in a few hours.  We quickly realized  that there was a certain demand and a great desire for fresh, locally grown sweet corn.  We have expanded our operations every year since and have developed a very loyal group of customers, some who come from as far away as Toledo, Ohio to purchase our sweet corn.

We know its harvest time when the silk of the ear turns brown and the ear is easily picked from the stalk.  Our sweet corn is all hand harvested which prevents bruising on the ear as well as allowing us to closely inspect each ear before it is put on the wagon for sale. Some of our competitors mechanically harvest their corn which produces a much higher rate of damage to the ear inside the husk.   We realize that every ear will not be perfect and urge our customers that have purchased an unsatisfactory ear to replace it for free on their next visit.

We typically pick our corn at twelve hour intervals throughout the summer.  Usually the morning harvest takes place at 5:30 a.m. and the afternoon picking at about 5:30p.m.  On weekends a third picking time is usually necessary.

Our self-serve model…”Honor System” of sales is somewhat effective.  If we could all watch out for each other, the price of the corn could be reduced.

We accept large orders for parties, cook outs and other events.  Please let us know in advance.
